Local businesses and corporate groups can join Ōtara Waterways and Lake Trust to carry out stream restoration and improvements, furthering our vision. The Trust can organise meaningful and fun volunteer days that introduce businesses to our work and allow staff to participate in customised on-the-ground conservation work.

Staff volunteer days are hugely beneficial for morale and team building, as well as providing a great way for local businesses to give back to the community.

Contact the Trust Manager to discuss your needs. We provide all health and safety equipment plus refreshments for staff.

Case study - Auckland Airport clean-up days

Auckland Airport is a valued corporate partner, with staff returning each year to support hands-on restoration across the Ōtara catchment. They are generous supporters of our mandate through the Auckland Airport Community Trust and 12 Days of Christmas grant, and their team actively contributes on the ground.

On the 18th November 2025, 15 staff worked with our Stream Team to tackle a challenging section of Ōtara Creek, removing 9m2 of household rubbish, furniture, car parts and debris. In a previous event, they cleared 80 bags of illegal dumping from a local reserve.

Corporate volunteer days like these provide practical opportunities for staff to give back locally while making a visible difference to the health of our waterways.

“We love working with the Ōtara Waterways Lakes & Trust team. The clean-ups are hard but rewarding mahi and our people love rolling up their sleeves and making a visible difference in our own backyard.” - Auckland Airport staff
